GINGUE BROTHERS DIARY

In Colombia, I´m used to see the milk cows outside eating grass and warming up. What impressed about this farm is that actually none of the cows go outside, eat grass or warm up with the sun. Even though the farm is small, it has an advanced apparatus that helps them do the process in a more accurate way. For example all the cows are tracked thanks to the neckless they have.Since there are about 450 cows that have to be milking every 8 hours, each cow has his own neckless with a ship that is tracked by a computer. This ship help the farmers gather information about the cow, if it is healthy, how many times it has been milk, etc.

These are the sofisticated milking machines.

Finaly I think the farm is quite prepare for all the seasons. For example, during winter the cows need controlated temperature in orther to survive. Thats why the have different infraestructur used to warm the place where the cows are. In orther to feed the cows during winter, they create a mechanism used to storage the grass with out water and air.Finally they have a machine used to remove all the excrement of the cows.
I think this is an advanced farm, I liked it.

FAIRFAX RECREATION PATH

My experience at the recreation path was amazing. I have so much fun swimming with my friends in the river and eating delicious snacks. I really enjoy the river because the day was really sunny and that´s why the temperature was so high. So thanks god we went to the river and refresh ourselves there.Finally i think the place is really good for going and spend a day playing soccer and getting inside the river, having fun with family and friends. I which i can go again and have more fun.!!!!

July 11

COLOMBIA´S AGRICULTURE

Colombia has great amounts of different crops. Not all the crops are able to grow in the same places because of the different climates the country has. I actually dont know a lot of Colombian farming but as my grandparents are Colombian farmers, I can say that the weather contiditions( rain,wind and sun) determine the quality of the food.

The main crops in the country are the ones of coffe,banana,flowers,rise and cotton. The one i like the most is the one of banana because my grandparents also cultivate bananas. During all my life, i have try lots of different recipes and the one i like the most is banana split. the Banana split is made up of ice cream, cherrys, and obviously banana.

July 9th

COTS SHELTER

Today we went downtown and visited the Cost Shelter. The first impression i had of it was the rooms where the people sleep. They were almost 30 beds made up by bunker beds. When i saw that, i thought in how is the relationship between the 30 persons that sleep there all the nigths. Even though they don't have such a great help from the government, the Shelter receives help from private companies in order to survive.

I really didn´t expect to see a homeless Shelter in such great conditions. I though it was a dirty place and really messy but actually the place was really clean and organize.

In Colombia we have several organizations that offer this help but they are actually really weak due to economical problems and the amount of people. Every day more and more people need  a shelter where they can sleep but unfortunately they don't have access to it due to all the problems the shelters have.


SCAVENGER HUNT.

 The Scavenger hunt was actually really good. While i was doing it, i realize that sometimes i don´t see what is around me. For example i passed over the huge world map two times. Also I learned that sometimes we have to be intelligent and ask for something instead of going all around the place searching for something with out knowing where can we find it. I think the Scavenger Hunt wasn´t difficult because we asked several times for the places or items whe had to search for.

I really had a great time in today´s activities. Wait for my next post in july 11th ;)

JULY 4th

Hi everybody. Yesterday we went to champlains lake to see the fire works in memorial of the 4th of July. The first impresion i got of the event was the amount of people that assisted.The place was crowded by a lot of people from different places and cultures.

 I had never saw such amount of people together just for seen fireworks. This fact make me realize the importance of the fourth of July for United States population. The fire works where great a i had such a good time with my friends.I strongly recomend you to assist a future event like that one.

As you can see in this pictures, the fire works where just amazing.

 

Colombia´s independence is on July 20th. I actually haven´t participated in an independence event or celebration. But I think we don´t celebrate the independence day the way they do it here.At Colombia people used to take out their flags and join together at a central place of each city to celebrate the independence day.They celebrate by making little parades and concerts at public parks.

JULY 2 THIS IS ME!

Hi my name is Santiago Perez and i am from Bogota Colombia.

I make part of a small family made up of four people, my dad, my mom and my youngest brother.We are a really lovely and kind family that like to spend time together making different kind of acctivities such as going camping, going to the country side and making sports.






Right now i am in 11 grade at GimnasioVermont Bogota. My favorite hobby is practicing sports such as soccer, volleyball,weights and mountain bike.



I also have fun helping people and doing social work. I'm really enjoying this trip until know because it is a great opportunity to meet different persons from different countries and cultures.

That's all i can tell you about me and I hope we have a great time together.
